What is WebCheck and how does it work?

WebCheck is an internet-based program for state-wide and federal background checks. It electronically transfers fingerprints and other data from the inquiring agency to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigations (BCI&I). BCI&I compares this data against a database of criminal histories to determine if there is a criminal record.

Local Criminal Background Checks:

Local criminal background checks can be obtained through the Records Office at the Union County Sheriff’s Office. It is only a check by name and not by fingerprints, so therefore it is unverified as to the true identity of the person in question. It will not include any other record of arrest made by another jurisdiction – local, state, or federal.

To request a local criminal background check, a Local Record Check Form must be filled out with name, date of birth, and social security number.

Results from the local background check will only show the offense, date of offense, and the name of the court where the charges were filed. You will need to check the disposition(s) of the case(s) through the respective courts. Felony cases can be checked online on the Clerk of Courts website at unioncountyohio.gov/Public-Records-Search-Apps/, Misdemeanor cases can be checked online on the Marysville Municipal Court website at municourt.co.union.oh.us/recordSearch.php?k=searchForm8020 , and Juvenile cases must be checked in person at the Union County Juvenile Court offices located at 215 W 5th Street in Marysville, Ohio.

Local criminal background checks are available in person Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Appointments are not required.
