Sales Tax Funded Services

Funded in whole or in part by the Senior Services Sales Tax (*sliding fee scale may apply to some services)

  • Caregiver Relief / Day Respite Care*  Providing trained individuals to help with the care of older adults who need 24-hour supervision
  • Case Management  Ongoing assessments & consultations with seniors & their families to determine needs & provide support
  • Homecare Management*  Assistance with meal preparation, light house cleaning & laundry to maintain a clean, safe & healthy environment
  • Personal Care*  Assistance in the performance of necessary activities, such as personal hygiene & grooming
  • Alzheimer’s Association Social Worker  Alzheimer's Association caseworker available for home visits to assess needs & coordinate services for those with dementia
  • Home Delivered Meals*  Funding provided to support the Memorial Meals Program
  • Emergency Response Buttons / Automatic Pill Dispensers*  Provides access to emergency services through electronic communication devices & assistance with medication compliance
  • Project Lifesaver  Funding provided to support tracking system for those at risk to wander such as Alzheimer’s & Dementia clients, operated by the Union County Sheriff’s Office
  • Library @ Your Door & Visitation Program  Library materials selected & delivered to homebound seniors through local libraries
  • Senior Watch Telephone Call Program  Daily automated call program for safety operated by the Union County Sheriff’s Office
  • Medication Management  Medication set-up by a registered nurse for qualified seniors
  • Companionship / Visitation  Friendly home visits for homebound seniors
  • Senior Shopping Cart  Grocery shopping service available for those medically unable to shop for themselves with physician’s or social worker’s referral  (weekly senior shopping trips available for those who don’t drive through UCATS)

  • Ensure Senior Health Program*  Ensure Nutrition Shakes provided at a discount or at no charge, with a physician’s prescription application information
  • Farmers’ Market Healthy Seniors Program  Farmers’ Market coupons to be used for fresh local produce for income eligible seniors
  • FILE OF LIFE  Magnetic pouch for the refrigerator & wallet insert to record medications & medical conditions for first responders
  • Food Commodity Program  Partnering with CASC to provide monthly food boxes for income eligible seniors through a Federal Program
  • Union County Family YMCA Senior Sunrise  Funding provided to support Senior Sunrise, free admission for Union County Seniors to the YMCA on Wednesday & Friday mornings
  • Tai Chi & Excersie Classes provided to local senior centers
  • Incontinence Supply Discount*  Incontinence supplies provided at a reduced rate with a Doctor’s prescription
  • Mental Health Specialist / Senior Well-Being Counselor  Senior Mental Health counseling contracted through New Reflections Counseling Center

  • Adult Protective Services  For those who are, or are in danger of being mistreated or neglected, & are unable to protect themselves through Job & Family Services
  • Emergency Needs Assistance  Limited emergency assistance for medication or utilities
  • Guardianship Program  Visitation from staff or a volunteer guardian for those deemed by the court system unable to manage their own affairs or moral support for those who need assistance with decision making through Union County Guardianship Services
  • Heat Relief  Air conditioning units provided for income eligible seniors with a physician’s referral through Community Action Organization; fans provided to income eligible seniors
  • Homeless Prevention Program  Funding provided to the Salvation Army to assist low income seniors at risk of becoming homeless
  • Family to Family Furniture Bank  Providing funding for essential furniture items for low income seniors, located at the Hope Center
  • Home Repairs for Safety*  Providing ramps & a variety of safety related home repairs to improve independence
  • Medical Care for Uninsured Seniors  Funding provided to the Grace Clinic to offer low-income, uninsured seniors health, dental & vision care, located at the Hope Center

  • Information & Advocacy  Providing resource information about community-based & other services for older adults
  • Large Print Book Library  Offered through the Marysville Public Library
  • Life Bio - Life Story Journal  Life Bio Journal to document the life of a senior as well as the option to pair with companion visitation
  • Medicare Assistance  Medicare counseling by Senior Services’ OSHIIP-certified (Ohio Department of Insurance) staff
  • Project Safe Heat  Free carbon monoxide detector, furnace cleaning & inspection for seniors through Community Action
  • Smoke Detector Program  Smoke detectors provided to local Fire Departments for Union County Seniors
  • Transportation Coordination  Medical & Community Mealsite transportation available; wheelchair accessible through UCATS
  • Same Day Transportation  On-demand shuttle pilot program with limited hours and service area through UCATS
  • Welcome Baskets for Seniors  Welcome baskets delivered to seniors who are new to the county by Union County Senior Services staff that contain senior-related community information & give aways
