Special Deputy Bureau

The Special Deputy Bureau is a group of volunteers who assist the Union County Sheriff's Office with a variety of operations.  We have Special Deputies who are certified Law Enforcement Officers, they meet all of the training and certification mandates of the State of Ohio.  These deputies will help with the many different patrol functions within the Sheriff's Office.

In addition to these deputies, the Special Deputy Bureau has several sworn civilian deputies who are part of the "Volunteers in Police Services" unit, also known as "VIPS."  The VIPS volunteer their services wherever they are needed, it may be clerical, maintenance, Sheriff Sales, Investigations, mowing or where their services will free up a full-time employee of the Sheriff's Office.

The Special Deputy Bureau has donated hundreds of hours each year to the Sheriff's Office; this is a very valuable program to our agency!

The Special Deputy Bureau meets on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 1600 hours.
