Our community takes care of seniors!  The following resources are a sampling of what is available for those 60 and better in Union County.  

Supportive Services

PASSPORT Homecare

PASSPORT(Pre-Admission Screening System Providing Options & Resources Today) is Ohio's home and community-based Medicaid waiver program for older adults.  PASSPORT provides help at home for seniors as an alternative to nursing home care.  Services available include homemaking, transportation, personal care, home-delivered meals, emergency response systems, adult day services, and case management.  

To be eligible for this program, a person must be 60 or older, meet financial requirements, and need help with activities of daily living, such as bathing and getting in and out of bed.  Click here for a flyer on PASSPORT or visit the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging for more information.


UCATS Transportation

The Union County Agency Transportation Service (UCATS) offers transportation to community meal sites and doctor's appointments. They also offer weekly shopping trips every Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and rotate between Walmart, Kroger, Dollar General, Aldi and the Dollar Tree in Marysville. This service is provided by donation only and is first come, first serve. To reserve your seat, call UCATS at 937.642.5100. This program is funded, in part, by the Union County Senior Services Sales Tax Levy.


Meals & Nutrition

Community Meals

Those who are 60 years or better can enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch amount friends at one of the three Community Meal sites in the Union County area.  The Community Meals program features regular and reduced calorie lunches prepared daily by Memorial Hospital. Reservations must be made with the Community Meal location by 9:30 AM on each day you wish to participate.   Transportation is available through UCATS.

Supplemental Food Program - CASC

Community and Seasoned Citizens (CASC) is taking applications for food boxes that area available through grant funding.  Union County Seniors 60+ and are within the eligibility guidelines may be eligible.  Boxes are delivered to the American Legion in Marysville the last Friday of each month.  Must provide proof of Union County address and age.  Call CASC for more information.  937.644.9801.  This program is funded, in part, by the Union County Senior Services Sales Tax Levy. 


Memorial Mobile Meals

Mobile meals provides nutritious lunches each weekday to people in their homes throughout Union County.  These meals are planned by a registered dietician and prepared in the kitchen at Memorial Hospital.  The meals are delivered by volunteers.  Requirements to participate include being a resident of Union County, over the age of 60, unable to travel to the Community Meal sites, and unable to prepare own meals.  Call Memorial Meals at 937.578.2445 or 800.686.4677 extension 2445 for more information on how to enroll.  This program is funded, in part, by the Union County Senior Services Sales Tax Levy.


Emergency Information

Emergency Beacons

The Union County Sheriff's Office offers Emergency Beacon Adaptors to Union County seniors at no cost.  This simple device converts your porch light bulb or visible lamp to a flashing signal perfect for Emergency Responders.  The beacon is simple to install and is activated by turning the light switch off and on twice and will remaining flashing for two hours.  Call the Union County Sheriff's Office at 937.644.4100 for more information.


Emergency Cell Phones

The Union County Sheriff's Office offers a program that provides emergency-only wireless telephones free of charge to Union County seniors.  The telephone can only dial 9-1-1- and is to be used in an emergency situation.  Call the Union County Sheriff's Office at 937.644.4100 for more information.


Project Lifesaver Tracking System

The  Union County Sheriff's Office offers  Project Lifesaver. This is a rapid response program to locate people who wander away from caregivers because of an impairment, such as Alzheimer's Disease, Down Syndrome, Autism or other developmental disorders. Using radio transmitted signals, Project Lifesaver has been credited with saving lives and tracking at-risk residents in minimal time all across the nation. The cost of the program is being paid for by local civic organizations, businesses and public and private agencies. There will be no initial cost to the resident.  Residents must apply for acceptance into the program.  Once in the program, the resident will be visited monthly by a Union County Deputy, Public Safety Officer to check the resident’s well-being and the transmitter.  If you would like to learn more about this project, call Deputy Rich Crabtree at the Sheriff's Office 937.645.4100 extension 4310.


Senior Watch

The Union County Sheriff's Office offers Senior Watch for Union County Seniors.  The program is divided into two options - the Senior Watch Call Program and the Senior Watch Visitation Program.  After registering, a communications dispatcher will call your home at a time you designate.  If you do not answer, they will try again in 10 minutes.  If there is still not a response, your chosen "key holder" will be contacted to check on you.  If the key holder does not answer, paramedics and law enforcement officers will be dispatched to your home.  For the Senior Watch Call Program, a deputy will periodically stop and check on you.

Next of Kin Registry

You can now register next of kin contact information to be accessed only by law enforcement and BMV personnel in the event that you are in a serious car crash.  Up to two contacts each with three phone numbers can be linked to your drivers license.  You may register your information on-line at the Ohio BMV.  If you have questions about the program, call the Next of Kin Registry at 1.844.644.6268.

Memorial Health Volunteer

As a volunteer at  Memorial Health, you are an essential part of the healthcare team. You help Memorial Health provide quality patient care while keeping it close to home. Your time and talents are needed in nearly every department of Memorial Hospital and at The Gables extended care facility.

The only job requirements are a sincere desire to help patients and staff and the ability to give a few hours each week.  From welcoming visitors and delivering patient meals to working as a cashier in the gift shop, there are rewarding volunteer opportunities that will match your interests. Free Credit Report

The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act requires credit bureaus to provide a free credit report to consumers once a year.  Get your free annual credit report at  www.annualcreditreport.com to help protect yourself against identity theft.  


Legal Advice

The Legal Aid Society offers free legal advice to Union County Seniors 60 and over regardless of income or assets.  Make an appointment to meet with a paralegal to discuss legal issues such as living wills, survivorship deeds, predatory lending, family law issues and simple wills and more by calling 888.301.2411.   


Legal Advice by Phone

Pro Seniors is a group out of Cincinnati that has a grant for providing all Ohioans over 60 with free legal service, regardless of income.  Telephone appointments for the legal hotline can be made Monday—Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm  An intake worker will ask for basic information and have a hotline attorney call you.  The attorney hotline frequently deals with legal issues concerning consumer issues, Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid estate recovery, social security, living wills, durable power attorney for health care, protective services, etc.  If  your legal problem cannot be solved over the phone, they can refer you to an appropriate source for further assistance.  The Pro Seniors legal hotline can be reached toll-free by calling 800.488.6070.
