WebCheck Background Checks:
What is WebCheck and how does it work?
The National WebCheck system is a cooperative effort between the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI&I) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that allows law enforcement agencies to offer the service of statewide and nationwide background checks to civilians. With this system, the Union County Sheriff’s Office can conduct civilian fingerprint background checks through Ohio’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and the FBI using the internet. It electronically transfers fingerprints and other data to BCI&I located in London, Ohio and BCI&I compares the information against fingerprints and criminal histories to determine if there is a criminal record.
