Providing transportation to encourage independence & self-sufficiency for Union County residents.


The Union County Agency Transportation Service (UCATS) is a county agency dedicated to transporting county residents to medical and personal related appointments.  UCATS does not provide public transportation.  UCATS is partially funded by federal grants for transporting elderly and individuals with disabilities.  Eligibility for transportation service is determined by a referring agency, with which UCATS has a contract or Memorandum of Understanding.  Referring agencies include Union County Department of Job and Family Services and Senior Services.


Approval of each trip request is based on availability. At least 24-hour notice for in-county transportation, and three working days (72 hours) notice for out-of-county transportation is requested. All special needs or requests should be discussed at the time the trip is scheduled (i.e. wheelchair accessible vehicle, service animal, attendants, oxygen, etc.).

Union County Coordinated Transportation Plan 2017

The link above is  the Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan for Union County Agency Transportation Service. This plan fulfills the requirements of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, signed into law as a reauthorization of surface transportation programs through Fiscal Year 2020. According to requirements of the FAST Act, locally developed coordinated public transit-human services transportation plans must be updated to reflect the changes established by the FAST Act legislation.

This plan was revised and adopted by a planning committee, consisting of individuals and organization stakeholders . The plan will be revised and updated annually to reflect community changes and progress toward goals.
